After docking in Isla Mujeres, save room for these local flavours. The island packs an incredible food scene into just a few square kilometres.
Fresh ceviche at the malecón
Stop at La Lomita or Lola Valentina for shrimp and octopus ceviche, served with crispy tostadas and a cold Mexican beer.
Yucatecan tacos
Try cochinita pibil tacos — slow roasted pork marinated in achiote, topped with pickled red onion. Sabor de mi tierra is a local favourite.
Whole grilled fish at Playa Norte
Tikinxic-style fish (grilled over wood with achiote) is the island's signature dish. Best enjoyed barefoot on the sand at Playa Norte.
Mango sorbet to finish
Cool down with a homemade mango or coconut sorbet from one of the carts along the main square. The perfect ending before sailing back.
